I wonder when V will learn that my note feet are quite fast and will always beat his bow-tie tip-toeing. Well, especially with a Cello on V’s back!
Now, let’s learn about a few instrument parts.
- Tuning Pegs attach the top end of each string to the instrument.
- There are four pegs on each instrument, one for each string.
- Tuning Pegs are turned to tighten the string to the correct tension in order to tune the string to the right pitch
The Scroll is like the instrument’s head, and is located on the top of the neck. The Neck connects to the body of the instrument between its shoulders.
The Bouts are the curved sections of the instrument. There are Upper Bouts and Lower Bouts. The narrower bouts in the middle are called C Bouts. Over time the shapes of the bouts have evolved, and basses still have sloped-shoulders.
There are many more details to these instrument parts, and more parts to learn. For now, you will need to focus your attention to the cello’s bouts and shoulders.
