TRILLS
Trills are the rapid repetition of neighbor notes and can begin from the main note or from one step above the pitch.
The abbreviation “tr” means to trill the pitch.
During a trill, all notes are performed in the same bow direction and may vary in speed. Pitches alternate one letter name distance.

Most often, Trills begin from the main pitch.
The opposite was true in the Baroque Era.
Accidentals alter trill step distances too!
