ANDANTE – approximately 70 – 95 BPM
I’m pleased Constance prepared you for my Andante definition tongue-twister. Ok everyone, try this one out:
Andante’s Flow, Is So-So Slow, But Not Too Slow, It Means To Go, You Know.
Without a doubt, repeating the Andante definition tongue-twister a few times, at an Andante Pace, will register Andante’s definition on many brain-levels. Try it!
Andante is a patient, leisurely tempo, one that is faster than Grave, Largo and Adagio.
Beethoven often added the words con moto, after Andante in order to reinforce the idea that the music should be performed in a flowing manner.
Andante can be a stroll pace, or a more “con moto” pace. We all walk with different speeds and lengths in our strides. As with all tempi, there are different interpretations of the tempo Andante. The tempo Andante was first used in 1724.
Andante is often joined by the next tempo Constance has returned to teach you.
