DYNAMIC CONTRAST EXERCISES
We are almost ready to start practicing pizzicato exercises that include different dynamic ranges.
Orchestra conductors assist in bringing awareness to dynamics by employing larger motions when the music is loud. Making smaller gestures encourages musicians to play softer.
Conductors usually indicate beat patterns with the right hand. Artistic expressions, in this case dynamics, are indicated by the motions of the left hand.
Now let’s have some fun. I am going to appear above your music in order to bring your attention to different dynamics.
When the music is louder, I will appear bigger and when the music is softer, I will appear smaller.
Now let’s practice Dynamic Contrast Exercises.
