Spike, everyone is ready. What’s up?
V, please remember our promise to Q.
Oh, yes Spike. You used the R’s of Remembering, very well!
Q made us promise to state this clearly before we went on to the exercise!
In some pictures, we have appeared carrying the Bass on top of our heads. We were being a little silly, wishing to get your attention! Attention to what?
Earlier, Q even raced me from page to page, when I had a cello on my back. The reason for this levity was to encourage you to smile, but more importantly, we wished to bring your attention to the importance of Leverage!
Skilled Bass players practice to become masters of the physical application of Leverage.
The only time that you lift the bass off of the ground is when transporting the instrument. You always carry the instrument as close to the ground as possible, lifting it only as high as needed in order to clear anything in the way. Even though the bass is large, the instrument is quite fragile and always must be handled with the utmost care!
Be kind to your instrument!
When in Playing-Position Remember These Rules:
- The Bass Remains On The Ground
- The Bass Angles Towards You
- The Bass Rests On You Very Gently
Now it is time to get busy! Get ready to learn to use Weight in Motion!
