BOWING WORLDS46

STRING LANES
Default 2
At this stage, you have learned about the bow-hand, the bow arm, and know that the bow’s contact-point must be parallel to the bridge.
In order to teach everyone about how the location of the bow on the string helps you to create different dynamics, I asked DYNA to team up with BRIDGE.
DYNA, we all look forward to your dynamic presentations. Please share!

Hello, Q! Thank you for your complimentary introduction, and good to see you again, BRIDGE.
The bow’s distance from the bridge affects the dynamics of your playing.
Default 1
As you learned during the pizzicato section, the closer you play to the bridge, the louder the dynamic range.  Agreed, Bridge?

Default 4
You are correct! Bow location makes a huge difference in dynamics, due to the varied string tensions at different distances from the bridge.
The closer the contact-point of the bow is to the bridge, the louder the dynamic. And you guessed it, the further the bow’s contact is away from the bridge, the softer the dynamic.
Now let’s teach everyone about the different String Lanes!
