ALTERNATING PITCHES
When notes that normally are not beamed together display beams, it means to perform the beamed rhythm while alternating back and forth between the notated pitches.
Quarter notes, Half notes and Whole notes, normally stand alone without beams.
When beams or slashes are placed between neighboring pitches, their rhythm duration is shared equally.
Quarter notes with 2 slashes, are performed as alternating sixteenth notes between the written pitches.
Beamed Half notes, are performed as alternating eighth notes between the written pitches.
