Multiple String Crossings and Virtuosic Bow Strokes
Rapid Bowing across multiple strings is called ARPEGGIO BOWING.
At rapid tempos, Arpeggio Bowing springs off the string with ricochet action.
To Arpeggiate, means to roll multiple notes in succession.
In the picture, ARC is displaying rolling Arpeggio Bowing motion.
As you remember, each note has a beginning, middle and end. When performing Arpeggio bowing, the beginning of each bow direction has a strong intial emphasis. Here are professional tips:
For Down-Bow Arpeggiated Bow Strokes:
Rotate your inner wrist toward the strings and lead the down-bow with the index-finger.
For Up-Bow Arpeggiated Bow Strokes:
Direct the up-bow with a firm ring-finger contact and keep your bow-wrist very flexible.

Hi again!
My visor represents the amount of arc needed to accomplish Arpeggio Bowing. The degree of bowing arc needed, is equal to the curve of the top of the bridge.

Arpeggio Bowing Workout
When increasing arpeggio bowing speed, it is helpful to use less bow and to accent each change in bow direction, which helps the bow to bounce. Repeat the exercise above and perform rhythmic Arpeggio Bowing.
Now try reversing the bow directions!
